Thermometric characteristics converter
We would like to introduce the new tool designed for those, who often convert electrical values to temperature and vice versa.
We have analysed the questions most frequently asked by our customers and we have found that one of the most discussed topics is the problem of identifying the type of temperature sensor on site. Maintenance department employees are often faced with the dilemma of what type of sensor they are dealing with. The basic measurement tools such as an universal multimeter can help identify the type of the sensing element, however, without appropriate tables with the thermometric characteristics of RTD sensors and thermocouples, this process can be very time-consuming.
To facilitate the work of our customers we have created a tool called the "Thermometric characteristics calculator". With this tool you can easily convert the value of the measured resistance (RTDs) or value of the electromotive force (thermocouples) to temperature.
For example, knowing that the resistance of the tested sensor at 21°C is about 108.18Ω, you can quickly see what type of sensor corresponds to the measured value. Below we present the method for using the calculator.
If the type of the tested thermocouple is not known, we recommend comparing the colour code of the thermocouple wire with the thermocouple colour table first.
If the tested thermocouple is not colour coded or if the coding is not clear, it is helpful to use an universal multimeter to measure the voltage at the terminals of the sensor in an identified thermocouple and then use of the "Thermometric characteristics calculator" as described below.
